"We always believed the he" isn't something that needs remedy, I would
suggest it's downright false (at least for most non-spousal cases the last 50 yrs or so). I doubt many accused rapists felt they were just being believed.
And IMO it's a purposeful falsehood in an effort to deceive and push the "we should always believe the she" narrative Charleston is talking about. Now why a supposedly objective journalist like Dowd would do such a thing, that's a great question.
